by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
Anthinéa carries a name of Greek resonance, as if brought back from a crossing of the Mediterranean. From two leaves of silvered bronze closed one upon the other, Chrystiane Charles has made a bud of light: the great pale leaf swells like a sail caught by the wind, and between the finely striated blades a heart of frosted glass shows through, holding the clarity and returning it, milky. The form, midway between flame and bud about to open, rises on a square base. The mirror polish within answers the matte grain of the leaves. The light wells from the glass, soft, between the two barely parted leaves.
