by Felix Agostini, 1969 { The Agostini Legacy }
The halberd armed the guards of the Middle Ages: a long shaft capped with an iron head that mingles the blade, the point, and the hook. In the work of Félix Agostini, arrows and blades return often; here, the weapon goes straight to its mark. The bronze shaft, raised vertical, keeps the grain of the casting beneath the patina, its iron deployed at the top like two wings. The shade opens at its middle to let it be seen: the light issues through this slit, glides on either side of the shaft, and underlines the blade with a stroke of shadow.
