by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
The poppy is the flower of sleep: its capsule, once the petals fall, keeps a small crown at its top and holds thousands of seeds. Chrystiane Charles has cast the round, ribbed head in gilt bronze, raised on a spindle foot and its square base. The crown of the fruit is chased like a diadem. The brass shade, cylindrical or formed in a bowl, caps the whole.
