by Chrystiane Charles, 70's { The Charles }
Penelope wove by day the cloth she undid by night, to hold her suitors at bay until Ulysses returned. Chrystiane Charles has layered three round sea-grape leaves of the Antilles, cast in bronze, overlapping like the panels of a work endlessly resumed. The veins of each cross and answer one another from leaf to leaf. The whole rises on a cubic base, beneath a rectangular brass shade.
